The Zerona Laser is a low level cold laser, which basically means that it is non-invasive.  It does not produce any heat.  The laser penetrates the skin to the subcutaneous fat, which is the fat just below the skin. This is the area it works on.  It does not work on visceral fat, which is the fat between the organs.  When the laser hits the subcutaneous fat it makes the outer membrane of the fat cell very porous and it emulsifies the fat within the cell.  With a porous membrane the fat within the cell leaks out, which causes the cell to shrink.  From that point the fat is pushed into the lymphatic system, which dumps into the digestive system where we will excrete the fat when we have bowel movements. The Laser is very effective at “shrinking” the fat cells.  There are certain things I have patients doing during the protocol to help assist the fat through our systems.  I will be covering some of these things in the next blog.
